TWO UNUSUAL OFFERINGS:
BIOMORPHIC PAINTINGS BY WATROUS AND SEVEN EXQUISITE CORPSES
The
Windham Art Gallery is pleased to present the Featured Artist
for September, LAUREN WATROUS, whose work will be installed
in the front gallery. Watrous will be showing a new series
of colorful, abstract paintings inspired by organic and biomorphic
forms. In the back gallery, there will be a Group Exhibition
and Fundraiser entitled EXQUISITE CORPSES. Inspired by a
Surrealist tradition, each member of the Windham Art Gallery
has painted a body part (such as head, torso or feet) that
is put together into seven five-foot and delightfully unlikely “corpses” or
bodies. The funds raised from the sale of the Corpses will
benefit WAG. Lauren Watrous and Exquisite Corpses will run
September 7- 30, with an opening reception on Friday, September
7 from 5-8 PM.
