The Windham Art Gallery is pleased to present the work of two Featured Artists' for November, CAROLYN NELSON: OFF THE GRID, and MARJORIE SAYER: INNER RHYTHM. Both artists work with abstraction, but while Nelson's recent body of work is suggestive of the grid, square, stripe and line and she is "fascinated by color and the juxtaposition of colors," Sayer is interested in exploring ways to experiment with the abstracted figure as it relates to spatial relationships, texture, and dark and light. Both are inspired by spontaneity and the process of painting itself. Nelson says, "I wait for something to emerge that will propel me on the next piece," and Sayer explains she strives to be "quick to capture the essence of the personality of the sitter."
